Abstract: In the new era, promoting western development to form a new pattern is an important measure to achieve high-quality development and modernization in the western region. At present, the western region should do better to form a new spatial pattern and enter a new stage of development through promoting the construction of central cities and urban agglomerations, providing the necessary foreign trade environment and financial support for local economic entities, forming characteristic industries and the digital economy industry, alleviating the contradiction between water resources and the distortion of energy supply and demand structure, striving to improve the living conditions of residents and solve the problem of deep poverty under the premise of maintaining frontier stability and national security as well as under the guidance of the green development of ecological civilization.
