Abstract: Village cadres play a key role in Rural Revitalization, well-being is a comprehensive reflection of their work and life. Based on the data of CHIP2013, Welch’s average equivalence robustness test, Ordered Logit model analysis, and the Blinder-Oaxaca decomposition show that village cadre status can increase farmer’s well-being. The reason may be identity and income premium. The interaction term and the average marginal effect analysis found that the identity of the village cadres has a significant regulatory effect on the well-being of assets. The mechanism of “asset-wellbeing” is disturbed by the identity of the village cadres. Rural logic including spiritual sustenance and honor incentives is still an important motivation for village cadres to participate in grassroots governance. The quadratic test proves that the inverted U-type relationship between income and assets to well-being is established. The Easterlin paradox has been verified in rural areas of China, but the inflection point is higher. In fact, it only shows a positive correlation.
