Construction of the Western Free Trade Area and Local Economic Development

Abstract

Abstract: Free Trade Area (FTA) construction is of great significance to the economic development of the western region, and the construction of a FTA is a process of continuous exploration. Based on the perspective of the new structural economics, this paper holds that if the policy of the FTA truly promotes the economic development of the western region, it is of necessity to maximize their respective comparative advantages, to achieve synergistic development between regions based on the regional division of labor formed by the factor endowments. Then, it points out that it is necessary to realize the reform of the administrative examination and approval system and change the government function, according to the heterogeneity of enterprises to provide heterogeneous public services, and also to realize the infrastructure services the fairness and equalization.
